Ethics Certificate Online Program
The Colorado State
University College of Business Ethics Certificate program will conduct
its 12th class beginning February 12, 2007. The success of
the certificate program has allowed us to get feedback and continually
improve the program. We expect to have 20 participants in the
fall program including practicing ethics officers and other
organizational managers responsible for ethics. One of the major
advantages of this program is the online format that provides
interaction and exchange of best practices related to this important
area. We are adapting our fall
course content to reflect the current ethics crisis in America. Issues
related to loss of confidence in business, misrepresentation of material
facts about companies, and ethics failure by many organization leaders
will be addressed. While the course allows individuals to proceed on a
self paced basis there are weekly modules that require participants to
post their reaction to their reading assignments and other online
activities.
In case participants
are out of the office, we allow flexibility in completing weekly
assignments and discussion. While there is no formal grade awarded in
the class, satisfactory participation can result in continuing education
credits and the awarding of a business ethics certificate through the
College of
Business.
Our previous participants indicate they have gained a great deal of
knowledge from taking the course that they can apply to their work
environment.
This program is
designed to introduce the participant to the latest concepts and best
practices available to guide the development of effective organizational
ethics programs. This online course provides insights into issues,
frameworks, and actions useful for understanding the various factors
that influence ethical decision making in an organization. The 10
weeks online delivery of the program provides a weekly module that
includes a high level of interactivity with participant control of the
rate and sequence of their exposure to information. The outcome of
this program is to enhance the participant's knowledge base and access
to information for continuous development of business ethics expertise.
Skills relevant to working in an organizational ethics office, human
resource management department, or in any management position are
developed by the certificate experience.
